Ancient healing method
Acupuncture consists in inserting ultra-thin, one-time use stainless steel, sterile needles into carefully selected acupuncture points in the body with the aim to elicit a physiological response and healing.
According to the World Health Organisation acupuncture has been proved effective for over 100 conditions, and it has been used to treat those conditions safely and painlessly for thousands of years.
Acupuncturist will use different techniques to assess the patient’s presenting condition including observation, a thorough medical anamnesis, pulse and tongue diagnosis and the palpation of relevant parts of the body to assess any muscular tension or to locate painful areas or masses.
After making a diagnosis and identifying ‘patterns of disease’ the acupuncturist will determine the principle of treatment and point prescription.
